On November 15, at the OSNC General Meeting, Oxnard City Manager Alex Nguyen joined us to discuss enforcement of the Short-Term Rentals Ordinance. 50+ community members attended in person and online.

 

Here is a recap of useful information that came from the meeting.

 

1.      City Manager Nguyen stated that the enforcement of short-term rental requirements has had its ups and downs, but progress is being made. Some fines have been issued and the City will seek court injunctions for those operators who ignore warnings and fines.

 

2.      As a result of this and previous meetings with the community, the city has appointed a lead person to address STR problems.

4.      The City has published a list of permitted STRs. You can find this list at https://www.oxnard.org/public-active-str-list/. If you suspect someone is operating an unpermitted STR, please notify Host Compliance and Code Compliance by phone or online (contact info above).

 

STR Enforcement is a complex matter, and, per City Manager Nguyen, the city is working to improve the process and the results. At Nguyen’s suggestion, there will be a second follow up meeting in six months. We will send details as soon as they are available.
